FMC Lighting retrofits Homewood Suites

Duston Fitzgerald of FMC Lighting understands the challenges facing many businesses when it comes to lighting retrofits. One of the most important and often overlooked components of a successful business is signage. Signage is usually the first impression a potential customer has of your business. How your business is perceived by the casual viewer can be the difference between someone entering your business or passing it by. Most business owners understand the importance of their exterior signs but the pressure of running a business demands their attention elsewhere. “Unfortunately, the day to day details of running a business take priority and signage, at times, is a casualty. It sort of falls into the “out of sight, out of mind” category.” said Duston.

When Homewood Suites realized their old LED lighting was in need of a lighting retrofit, they had to act fast. Signage is a critical component for a hospitality based business. Duston presented their client with the option of using the previous LED supplier, or go with Ventex. FMC lighting had heard about Ventex through the Professional Lighting and Sign Management Companies of America, or PLASMA. They chose Ventex, primarily due to the pricing and the warranty.

Homewood Suites before and after

As you can tell from the before and after pictures, they chose wisely. After FMC Lighting worked their mojo, the brightly lit sign is now a welcoming beacon to the weary traveler. Duston added, “Crisp, well-lit, professional.” In short, all of the qualities you want to see in a sign.

FMC lighting is no fly by night company – they’re professionals and the family owned business has been around since 1948. Let me say that again because this speaks volumes; They’ve been around since 1948. To survive and thrive that long means you know how to adapt to change and navigate the challenges of a highly competitive industry. And one of the changes Dustin has noticed is that 90% of their clients now ask about energy rebates. And if they don’t, he brings it up. Such attention to customer service is another reason why a company stays in business this long. You care enough about your clients that you bring up rebates that benefit them. I mention this because at a recent trade show, I had a Sign Shop tell me they typically didn’t bring up rebates with their clients because they didn’t feel the Shop received any benefit from it. To ignore what is in the best interest of your clients is a sure way to have a business fail. Based on their customer service and professionalism, I suspect FMC Lighting is going to be around for a very, very long time.
