Neon to LED: retrofit or repair?

“If a business has a fixture that is out, they have to seriously consider if they need to repair or retrofit.” Said Bob Magnus, Executive VP of Sales & Marketing, Ventex Technology. Service companies present both options to businesses. The retrofit may cost more money up front but with the influx of incentives and rebates flooding the market, that’s not necessarily the case any longer. Case in point, a retrofit Ventex did for Comfort Suites in Asheville, NC. They received a healthy rebate and experienced serious savings their first year.

If course it is cheaper to repair but your also just replacing your inefficient system that ultimately will cost you money in the long run. Replacing instead of retrofitting also means you leave money on the table by not taking advantage of the rebate money now available via local power companies. Any way you look at it, the decision is a no brainer. Rebate money pays for a big part of the job, you have lower maintenance and material costs and the ROI can be less than two years. The question really becomes “Why would you want to repair?” Bob Magnus added, “When you add it all up, you have to retrofit. It’s that simple.”

If you are a business looking to enhance your savings and appearance, ask your local power company what rebates are available for upgrading to more efficient LEDs. Ask your local sign/lighting company or your local utility company what incentives they have that are available for retrofits.
