Recently there has been a great deal of buzz in the electrical contractor industry about taking advantage of a new revenue stream – sign lighting retrofits. Cary Fields, a Ventex territory manager stated, “Since many electrical contractors are already on site retrofitting the HVAC system or cooler lighting, why not add another $30,000 to their bottom line by retrofitting the exterior lighting as well?”
Danny from Efficient Lighting and Maintenance has been with EL&M for 16 years and understands why electrical contractors are diving into this market and he wholeheartedly agrees with Cary.
“I’d say 8 out of 10 of our projects involve signage.” Danny said. “We do everything from HVAC, refrigerator control, motor change outs, thermostats, LED’s in the coolers.” He understands that external lighting retrofits can be extremely lucrative and if you don’t embrace them as an electrical contractor, you’re leaving money on the table. “Now we’re doing more and more lighting, converting to LED’s and it’s both internal and external. The guys in the field like the Ventex product because they have a confidence level about it.”
Ventex has been making easy to use and efficient retrofit lighting systems for a very long time.
“We used to use Sloan but tried Ventex after we learned they also did LEDs. We had been using Ventex for Neon for quite a while and we decided to try them out. That was several years ago and we haven’t looked back since.” said Tom Phillips, owner of Efficient Lighting & Maintenance.
And as summer draws to a close, most electrical contractors and sign companies are gearing up for a flurry of retrofit activity. With it getting darker earlier and the colder temperatures, most contractors want to get the exterior retrofits finished sooner rather than later.
In working with Conneticut Power and Light, Efficient Lighting & Mainenance and other groups, Ventex is hitting the bullseye with maximizing rebate dollars for the end user. Customers win, contractor and lighting companies win, and so do we.
Our series wired, efficient LED’s allow us to make the energy savings pop and we max out the rebate potential. Why? Because the more efficient the LED, the greater your projected savings and the greater your rebate. You can take advantage of the rebates being offered because we have the highest lumen per watt, more than any other system on the market. For example, Massachusetts, as of last week, is now offering 70% of the cost of the job plus parts to those companies who are retrofitting their old signage. And if you use Ventex, you’ll experience even greater savings.
ESCO’s and electrical contractorsare adding signage retrofits to their energy savings retrofits for their clients – the biggest upside is that they are already out their doing retrofits to the business in the form of HVAC and interior lighting upgrades – and to not tackle the exterior signage while they are there is leaving a substantial amount of money on the table.
Easy to install, much more efficient that class two systems, electrical contractors are choosing Ventex for their retrofit opportunites.
Need examples? Kent Bartlett retrofitted the Presque Isle signage, which happened to be 160 ft in the air. He was able to use our remote mounted power supplies, which can be located up to 175′ away from the first LED. Presque Isle saves on equipment rentals (and bartlett) but the bigger facgor is the energy savings, which went from 60 amps down to 11 amps.
Here’s another example – a recent Macy’s retrofit for a 6ft’ sign took it from 40 amps down to 1 1/2 amps after they used Ventex LEDs.
The bottom line is, if you’re not doing signage retrofits, someone else is.
